The Destroyer of Worlds

It must be the ultimate irony to die by your own sword.

On August 6 and 9, 1945, two deadly atomic bombs, codenamed “little boy” and “fat man” were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing tens of thousands of people. Both bombs detonated 1800 Feet in the air to maximize the killing effect.

We learnt about antennas just a couple of months ago. On the bomb’s side is a "Yagi-Uda" antenna. (you might have seen these antennas before, they are parallel 'sticks' of descending length aligned in a particular direction, u'll find these on the roofs of buildings to receive TV signals) The antenna is pointed downwards as the bomb is falling. It measures the distance between earth and the falling bomb. At precisely the altitude needed for the bomb to cause maximum damage, it detonates.

As you might have guessed, the Yagi Uda antenna is a Japanese invention.

Space-Time Warp

Three more papers to go, lets see, the day that just past was Deepavali, Hari Raya is coming up this sunday and we are right smack in the middle of the exams. How... how can we expect our Hindu and Muslim friends who are taking exams to have the peace of mind to go VISITING!!! wtf.. anyway i wish you people happy holidays.

In fact these two holidays dont mean any rest for me, i got up today and took a walk to school, no shuttle buses there... everything is the same in NTU, except maybe a little quieter on a public holiday. Down the long road past hall 9... then 8, pass the bus stop where this dude was checking the shuttle bus schedule pasted on the pillar, wishful thinking.. he wont be finding scheduled services, no.. not today. The dude took off right as i passed him. Engineering Mathematics textbook in hand, Kreyzig to be precise, the 50 dollar brick of a book we were all "conned" into buying back in second year. His look worn out, quite contrasting to his youthful and fresh looks, must be a second hand or a hand me down from one of his seniors.

Few steps down the road he turned around, looked at me with his bespectacled eyes, slightly curly hair and spoke in madarin, instantly giving his nationality.. , "What's the date today?" I was taken back for a split second, i was anticipating somthing to the tune of "what time is it" not time travel questions like What day is it!? "11th" i replied the China dude and he walked back in the opposite direction.. not sure myself.. i said "I THINK SO!" Perhaps he realised there wasnt a need to go to school today, or his paper was tomorrow. He turned back as he parted and shot "Is a public holiday right?".. "Yes" I smiled back.

Kind of reminds me of the movies, the joker goes back in time.. wakes up in a strange place but can't put his finger on what's wrong, goes up to the local caveman "what year is it?" 200BC... But it's not surprising, considering that this "time amnesia" happened to me last saturday when i almost went too late to visit the Doctor. Well, strange things do happen in the fog of war.. haha

Untitled

Friday, two papers down and five more to go! It's hard to concentrate if your sick.. fell ill on the first day of the paper. and It's hard to get the rest you need in the midst of the exams.... when in fact you need your mind working at 110 to 120% especially During the 2 and a half hours, so u push urself and u prop ur mind up with drugs like panadol.

I read on the box that each pill has 65mg of caffeine which "acts as a mild central nervous system stimulant to aid in staying awake and to restore mental alertness in fatigued patients" I'd never thought i would do this.. as i'm not an advocate of panadol.. those little pills. I feel that the more you use it, the more you would need the next time round to bring down the headache/pain/watever.. my policy is to use only if i have a high fever or ONLY WHEN NEEDED.. i guess this would be one of those days.. I took 2 last nite to study and i took two before the maths paper today to get through it. I feel like the Universal Soldier, those half human warriors at regular intervals need to soak in an ice tub to stay operational otherwise thier circuits and robot balls will fry.

okay... back to studies soon... just gimme a few minutes to slack off

some pictures,
the weather has been like this every afternoon-gloom and doom
(morning is extremely hot, afternoon the skies open up into a raging thunderstorms)

This is a fricking big dragon fly.. the flies and all flies..

i wonder who's feeding them?

MY FIRST TIME

Last week was my first time. IT was my first time in my whole life drinking Brand's essence of chicken. Considered an exam staple by many many school going children in Singapore's long and arduous education system (that spans a good part of 20years), I choose to try it only in the final year of University. Better late then never..

It seems that many 'genuises' in school drink it, my roomate is one of them, who heard that it packs the power of a hundred chickens. So i decided to buy a trial bottle ($3.20). I didnt wanna get the whole box of six yet, just in case i had adverse reactions to it (for example, turning into a chicken or develoring lao sai).

First bottle, thursday morning... open.. sip.. gulp gulp.. BLEAH.. tastes like shit (actually like concentrated chicken soup) but the taste didnt stay and luckily its a small bottle. I waited for the 'effects' to kick in, expecting a rush of energy like Asterix drinking the druid's potion or the gummy bears taking Gummy bearry juice. Nothing.

However, i was particularly awake that day and alert too. I guess that must be why it's so popular, plus no side effects... yet... Falling to the pressure of kiasurism, I decided to buy a box from my room mate who's parents brought him three or four boxes for him so far. (read: OD-ing on essence of chicken..wtf :p)

Three more days to go.. the clock is ticking

I heard this on one of Frasier's episodes,
'if Less is more, just imagine how much more More would be'
Goodnite seattle!
